ADOLESCENTS REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH PROGRAM

In Pakistan, there are an estimated 29,326,000 adolescents (aged 10-19 years), representing 23% of the total population. Very little research has been done to look at the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of particularly into matters related to adolescent reproductive health. Small scale studies undertaken in Pakistan, suggests that adolescents have very little knowledge of matters related to reproductive health, such as, puberty, virginity, menstruation, masturbation, intercourse, pregnancy, family planning, HIV/AIDS and STDs. Most of these aspects of RH are associated with many myths that may do the opposite of what is intended, leaving the adolescent more exposed to health risks. It is very clear that is adolescents need information

Methodology

Reproductive health sessions were conducted with the partner schools at Sheikhupura and some new schools were also contacted. Six schools were targeted in three years. Awareness raising sessions were conducted in each school. Through these sessions we covered all topics related to reproductive health.
